‘Metamorphoses’

I loved this job! Live theatre is so magic! Especially after the pandemic, we were all craving some proper story telling. The creative team have been beautiful, and the Sam Wanamaker is gorgeous. I feel really grateful I got to do this.

Team: Performed by Fiona Hampton, Irfan Shamji, Steffan Donnelly and myself. Directed by Holly Race Roughan and Sean Holmes. Written by Sabrina Mahfouz, Sami Ibrahim and Laura Lomas. Designed by Grace Smart. Candle consultant Simeon Miller. Plus a whole load of other brilliant creatives and crew listed on The Globe website.

Personal: What was hard: Being an actor again after such a long break. Getting out of my head and into my body. Being brave and letting myself be seen whilst feeling like a messy sweaty half formed thing. What I’m most proud of: I’m really proud of the whole company who worked with such kindness and courage. We were brave in staying curious about the piece, letting it tell us what it was, playing with new ideas, and holding our nerve right up until the last moment. What I learnt: That live theatre is so fucking magic and we are so hungry for it after the last two years. More about how to read the room and respond live to an audience. That kindness and respect will always help guide the story. That simple story telling is so strong.
