WORKSHOPS
I have been running writing workshops for over a decade. Partners have included The Royal Court, Soho Theatre, Gendered Intelligence Youth Group, The Old Vic, New Writing South, High Rise Theatre, and various colleges, schools, universities and drama schools.
I can be flexible with both content and fee, online or in person, big groups and one to ones.
Here’s four topic suggestions :

Writing from lived experience can be empowering self-expression, or public self-harm. I’ve faced both. I share lessons learnt (the hard way) on publicly sharing stories born from a personal place.
Expect writing exercises and group discussion exploring clarity of form and content, separating the art from the artist, neoliberalism, self indulgence, trauma porn, and creative joy.

Maybe you’re the straight venue trying to support the queer artist you’ve hired. Or maybe you’re the queer artist trying to navigate the heteroghetto.
As a trans and queer white person, from a working class background, with a neurospicy brain, who has worked extensively in theatres with 'Royal' in their title, I have much to share on this topic.
Expect practical suggestions and frank kind discussion on how to create the best conditions in which your art and your artists can thrive.

I used to think it was wanky, now I think it’s vital. I learnt this the hard way.
Note: I am not a qualified expert in anything but my own personal experience, of which I have plenty. This is an area I am passionate about and have much practical experience to share.
Things we’ll be exploring together = dealing with waiting, healing from art scars, the pressure to make work from your personal identity, trauma porn, social media noise, painful rejections, press and PR, intention setting, owning what you need, seeking permission and validation, money and juicy joy.

Not everyone makes art for a living. But everyone is allowed to create. Art is not a luxury. It's vital for our mental health. It's our birthright. It's anti-capitalist, counter-culture, rebellious, delicious, outrageous organic spiritual soul-revolution. And, it's fun!
Expect short and sweet creative writing exercises with low pressure and even lower stakes. Open to everyone, of all abilities and experience levels. We'll gently generate material together, get inspired to metaphorically chuck paint at the wall, just for the joy of it.
