Monologues For ‘Others’

This book is for the ‘other’s. For anyone who’s ever felt othered. For us lot. Who deserve celebration and opportunity.

Some are speeches adapted from plays I’ve previously had produced. Some are written just for this book. Each one is written with the actor in mind, with a glossary to help you find a specific tone or mood or quality.

I hope they make your body feel fizzy. I hope they get you all the jobs. I hope your flowers bloom.

DramaAndTheatre review.

Personal: What was hard: Not a lot to be honest, it was a real joy to collate these and imagine people using them for auditions. What I’m most proud of: That my words are useful for other people. That I started writing from a place of frustration and it’s turned into something good. What I learnt: That it feels wonderful to hold this book. That thanking people who have fueled me is more fuel. That I love yellow.

I have written a page here with some learnings on making “queer work” in “straight venues”.
