‘Secret Theatre’
I was an actor in Sean Holmes ‘Secret Theatre’ project at the Lyric Hammersmith for a year in 2013. It was a proper bonkers and beautiful year.
Team: Long list of brilliant artists. All explained in Sean’s speech.
Personal: What was hard: Working together for a year had its own ups and downs. A room full of big personalities, huge talent, and loud voices. The hours were long, we were worked hard. What I’m most proud of: Making bold theatre, love it or hate it you wouldn’t feel blah about it. We were balls-to-the-wall, brave, reckless, never casual. Also some enormous personal development and mental health recovery happened over that year. What I learnt: Loads. About the kind of work I want to make and the stuff I really don’t want to make. That I really want to make theatre, not just act in other people’s plays. They took us to Berliner Festspiele, Theatertreffen. Which blew my fucking mind.
